Relief Support during Lockdown

The central executive committee members of Kulung Sherpa Society have well experienced the brunt of nationwide lockdown that was effective from 24 March 2020. All the members discussed and readily agreed that the lockdown would have made the life of many of the families from 7 villages of Solukhumbu living in Kathmandu very hard. Thus, under the initiative of Ngima Nurbu Sherpa, President of Kulung Sherpa Society, a decision was made to create an Emergency Fund to support the needy and the vulnerable ones in our society. Like magic, the generous and kind-hearted members of Kulung Sherpa Society came forth voluntarily extending donations to the fund. Till date the donation collected just from our members itself is NRs 564,698/-. The executive committee purchased rice, lentils, sugar, salt, cooking oil, tea, soaps, and cash for cooking gas for 118 vulnerable families living in Kathmandu.  All the executive team members worked hard to the point of delivering the relief package door to door for the families living afar. Kulung Sherpa Society appreciates all the kind gestures extended by its member for the relief fund and express gratitude to a few of the volunteers who helped to deliver the relief packages to the families together with the executive team.

There is still NRs85,481/- in the Emergency Fund which will be used for a better purposes in time to come.
